TCCP at the Forefront: Exploring AI Policy, Readiness, and Responsibility in Pennsylvania

On September 16, 2025, Jazmin Slaughter, Community Engagement Specialist with the Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania (TCCP), attended Wake Up to the Issues: AI Policy & Regulatory Insights, hosted by the Lancaster Chamber.

The session highlighted Pennsylvania’s strong standing in AI readiness. According to Code for America’s Government AI Landscape Assessment, Pennsylvania is advanced in workforce capacity building and technical infrastructure, with established leadership and governance. Governor Josh Shapiro recently emphasized the state’s commitment to using AI responsibly to grow the economy, empower workers, and improve lives.

Panelists also stressed the continued importance of human presence in an AI-driven world — reminding attendees that AI systems learn from human contributions. Conversations explored AI’s potential in education, workforce training, and government operations, as well as the need to consider environmental impacts.

This event emphasized the importance of balancing innovation with responsibility, ensuring that privacy, sustainability, equity, and humanity remain at the center of AI adoption.
