Q3 2026 Day of Service: Seven Volunteers. Two Hours. 870 Bags of Rice. One BIG Impact.

Sometimes, making a meaningful difference doesn’t require a huge crowd. It just takes a few people willing to show up, roll up their sleeves and get to work. And during TCCP’s Q3 2026 Day of Service event, seven volunteers did exactly that.

On Monday, August 17, TCCP joined forces with Info-Matrix Corporation for a Day of Service at Midwest Food Bank of Pennsylvania, bringing members of our community together around one simple goal: give a little time and make a tangible difference for families across our region.

Seven People. 870 Bags. TWO HOURS. Our assignment for the day? Rice. Lots and lots of rice!

For two hours, our seven-person volunteer crew worked together to measure, package, seal and prepare bags of rice for distribution through Midwest Food Bank and the local food pantries and organizations it serves.

By the time we finished, we had packaged an incredible 870 bags of rice! That’s 870 bags that will leave the warehouse and make their way into the hands of individuals and families in our community. Not bad for seven people and two hours of work! And it’s a pretty powerful reminder of what can happen when people simply decide to show up and help.

Service Builds Community, Too

Days of Service are about supporting organizations doing important work in our region, but they’re also about something TCCP believes deeply in: connection.

We spend a lot of time bringing Central Pennsylvania’s technology community together to network, learn, collaborate and build relationships. Opportunities like this allow us to take those connections outside of our traditional events and put them to work for our community.

Side by side, doing something that has absolutely nothing to do with job titles, companies, technology or business cards, we get to know one another differently.

We laugh. We work. We problem-solve. We probably get a little rice on the floor.

And together, we accomplish something that matters.

Grateful for Community in Action

A huge thank you to Info-Matrix Corporation for partnering with TCCP to make this Day of Service possible and, most importantly, for showing up ready to work!

We’re also incredibly grateful to Midwest Food Bank of Pennsylvania for welcoming us back and for the tremendous work their team and volunteers do every day to fight hunger and support communities throughout our region.

TCCP is proud to play even a small role in that work.

Seven volunteers. Two hours. 870 bags of rice. That’s what community in action looks like.

Want to Get Involved?

We’d love to bring even more TCCP members together for future Days of Service!

If your organization is interested in partnering with TCCP for a volunteer opportunity at Midwest Food Bank, reach out to Alexis Gosik at alexis@tccp.org to get the conversation started.

Come for the impact. Stay for the teamwork, connection and the oddly satisfying feeling of looking at hundreds of bags of rice and thinking, “WE DID THAT.
