Building Shared Ownership at Work: Women In Tech Breakfast Brings Powerful Conversation to Pennoni
On Tuesday, August 25, TCCP’s Women In Tech community gathered at Pennoni for an engaging and highly interactive breakfast focused on what it truly means to build shared ownership at work.
The session, “Putting It Together: Building Shared Ownership at Work,” was facilitated by Jessica Warren, EHS Training Manager at Pennoni and Jessica was absolutely fantastic!
Through meaningful discussion, thoughtful reflection and plenty of participation from the room, Jessica challenged attendees to think beyond responsibility and delegation. Shared ownership is not simply about assigning tasks or holding people accountable for deliverables. It is about creating cultures where people feel genuinely invested, empowered to contribute and connected to the decisions and outcomes that shape their work.
Participants explored several of the most common barriers to shared ownership, including siloed priorities, unclear expectations, communication gaps and limited trust. The conversation also highlighted the foundations organizations need to move beyond those barriers: a clear purpose, aligned goals, consistent communication, empowerment, psychological safety and a healthy feedback culture.
One of the most powerful takeaways from the morning was also one of the simplest: ownership is created, not assigned.
When leaders model collaboration, invite participation, clarify expectations and help people build the capacity to succeed, shared ownership can grow. When people feel valued, trusted and connected to a larger purpose, they are more likely to invest fully in their work, contribute new ideas and support the success of those around them.
Attendees were encouraged to reflect on whether their work currently feels like ownership or obligation, and to identify one shift they can make immediately to help create greater engagement, trust and shared investment within their own teams.
More than a workshop, the morning created space for honest conversation, authentic connection and shared learning among women and allies from across Central PA. That is exactly what TCCP’s Women In Tech Breakfast series is designed to do.
A tremendous thank you to Jessica for sharing her expertise, energy and authentic leadership with our community and to Pennoni for generously opening its training space and hosting us. TCCP is a better organization because Jessica is involved, and we are incredibly grateful for everything she brings to our community.
We are also proud to present the Women In Tech Breakfast series with the generous support of our 2026 series sponsor, Capital Blue Cross, whose commitment helps make these meaningful community experiences possible.
Join Us for the Next Women In Tech Breakfast
Our next Women In Tech Breakfast will take place on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 8:30am – 10am at Capital Blue Cross Connect in Enola.
“Be Who You Needed to See: The Impact of Representation in Technology” will feature Shanice Mariluz, who will share lessons from her leadership journey about confidence, authenticity, influence and the tremendous power of representation.
Through personal stories and practical insights, attendees will be encouraged to lead boldly, embrace their unique paths and recognize that their presence may be opening doors they will never see.
The impact of representation isn’t measured by who notices you. It’s measured by who believes more is possible because they saw you.
Breakfast will be provided, so arrive early, grab a seat, meet someone new and start your day fueled by great food and even better conversation. Register today: https://members.tccp.org/ap/Events/Register/7EFO5MjfNCQCd
