Sr IT Executive
The Opportunity
We are leading a confidential search for a senior technology executive to act as a strategic advisor across the business. Total compensation around $300k+.
This is a newly created role and is best described as a C-level advisor without a big internal team or day-to-day operational ownership. There are no direct reports. Instead, this person will assess, guide, influence, and help shape long-term technology direction across multiple companies that operate with a high degree of autonomy.
The right person will be comfortable walking into a variety of environments, building trust with leadership, and helping organizations level up their technology strategy without forcing unnecessary standardization.
This is a rare chance to operate at a true enterprise level, influence long-term technology direction across multiple businesses, and work directly with senior decision makers on strategy, risk, and growth. It offers meaningful impact, high visibility, and the ability to shape how technology supports the future of a diverse organization, without being pulled into daily operational firefighting.
What You Will Actually Do
You will begin with a thoughtful assessment of the technology landscape across the businesses, then develop a practical, multi-year strategy that introduces smart guardrails while preserving each company’s autonomy. You will advise leaders on areas such as AI policy, cybersecurity expectations, data strategy, and how to approach aging or highly customized legacy systems.
Rather than running day-to-day IT, you will guide existing IT leaders, technical staff, and partners, helping them make stronger long-term decisions. In some environments you will work with mature IT teams, while in others you may be supporting a highly technical individual who needs strategic direction.
The role is also closely connected to growth and long-term planning. You will contribute to technology due diligence for acquisitions, assess risk and scalability, and advise on integration considerations. You may also support broader initiatives such as succession planning, internal capability building, and the strategy behind a new internal learning platform.
How Success Is Measured
- You build strong, trusted relationships across multiple leadership teams.
- You create a clear and realistic technology roadmap that leaders actually use.
- You raise the bar on cybersecurity, data practices, and AI governance without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- You help companies make smarter technology investments that hold up over time.
- You operate with discretion, strong judgment, and a calm, diplomatic style.
Ideal Background
Required
- Prior experience as a senior technology leader such as CTO, CIO, or equivalent, where you personally owned enterprise technology strategy across an entire organization
- Experience working across multiple business units, entities, or complex operating environments
- Strong executive presence and the ability to influence without formal authority
- High emotional intelligence, diplomacy, and strong relationship-building skills
- Experience shaping strategy in areas such as AI governance, cybersecurity standards, data platforms, and legacy system modernization
- A track record of longer tenures in prior roles, with evidence of seeing long-term initiatives through
- Familiarity with modern cloud environments and enterprise security practices
