Why Strategic Plans Fail and How Technology Is Changing the Process (VIRTUAL)
Thursday, April 16, 2026 (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM) (EDT)
Description
Most nonprofits invest significant time and money into strategic planning, yet many plans end up buried in a shared drive rather than driving real organizational change. In this session, we will explore the most common reasons strategic plans break down, from misalignment and lack of data to unrealistic implementation expectations. Participants will learn practical best practices for creating strategic plans that actually drive action, including ways technology can streamline planning, increase stakeholder engagement, and help organizations stay accountable to their goals. The session will include a demonstration of a new technology platform designed to help nonprofits complete strategic planning in a faster, more data informed way. This session will be facilitated by Kate Gallager, MNM, Chief Strategy Officer, coLAB, and Crystal Leidy, MPA, PMP, Chief Implementation Officer, coLAB, who will share insights from their experience helping organizations design and implement effective strategic planning processes.
